Umm... Didn’t know people were still doing this. It must be FWD now.

Mercedes did this once:

One of a kind (for good reason) lots of money wasted!

I get the idea but the execution is poor.

I’m wondering what they did with the drivetrain. Any 4WD Chebby Truck would support the front diff, so they may have fiddled with the transfer case....
Or, a bright light would have used 4WD front hubs and driven it with a transverse LS4 out of a Monte SS or Impala SS with the V8 and 4T60.
Now I want to know more about this project...

Das Karoline Squat!

Lol oh man, what if they would've just used the front half of a Impala to build the whole thing?!?

I’m pleased to inform you that the Germans are still at it.

Realistically, how safe are these things? How are they even made? Seems to me they would marry the two by welding the trailer frame to the truck frame. But that s ounds like an ugly divorce waiting to happen.

Looks like in would get high centered on a speed bump.

Transfer case switch is in 4H, so I’m guessing that they just disconnected the rear drive shaft and are powering through the front wheels only by way of the transfer case. Sketchy.

I mean ... I would never drive this thing ... but I don’t hate it ...

Yeah, agreed. There’d be more elegant ways to do that...
I’m a nutjob, but I kind of like the concept. Of course, most of the last 6 weeks have been spent hauling rally cars and my vintage FJ40 around the desert, so a RORO low-deck truck like this would be pretty awesome.

This is one vehicle where under-body and engine bay
shots would be very important for deciding if it’s a Nice Price or Crack Pipe.

I once saw a Silverado done up with the front clip from an Escalade on it. It was jarring.
Probably not hard to do, but it looked so off...

Why do you think there aren't any of those photos?

I bet it rides great!

That’s weird. I’d rather tow the trailer. That thing would have a six-block turning radius.

Does this qualify as a ramp truck?
![]() 11/15/2019 at 12:23 |

Right? I know for sure that I want nothing to do with it.
![]() 11/15/2019 at 12:41 |

This is very common. There’s probably a 3ft slip joint between the trailer frame and the truck frame. Ex-4x4 truck with no rear driveshaft and 4hi permanently engaged. A quick look underneath would easily tell you if it was done properly or not and, if so, this would be a phenomenal racecar hauler.

I was looking for them and didn’t see them.

there’s a shot of the valve cover decal showing it’s a 5.3, so presumably Censored is correct above and they just put the transfer case in 4H and removed the rear driveshaft.

Can the front part of the 4wd system handle 100% of the power?
![]() 11/15/2019 at 14:39 |

I have seen it before, just not done on something so new. I like the Cadillac versions the most.

I'm highly doubting it for anything long term, especially essentially towing.

This is what happens when Uncle Bubba gets two nickels to rub together and learns to weld. Not a fan at all. Not at all!

Hell, wouldn’t the darn thing bind like crazy on every sharp turn?

Front is an open diff with a locking transfer case. So no, but that doesn’t make it any better.
Rear, stock, has an automatic locker (g80).
